Completed Mallory's wall last week.
When progress was halted on this construction two years ago we didn't know where the stone would come from to finish. Taking a close look at her property, the customer discovered a "stone dump". A century earlier someone removed surface stone from a clearing and tossed it over a bank. Twenty cubic yards of stone was rescued from the dump, trucked to the building site and used to finish the construction. Many thanks to that long forgotten farmer.
Thats some really fine walling, and looks like it was built with the other. Great job Dan, and glad your blog is back up. Chuck
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that paint and stone are about as far apart as you can get in the spectrum of artistic media...but that wall is extraordinary in its 'painterliness'. I love the crispness of the larger capstones against the vibrating texture of the rest of the wall.
