This week I’ll be going to Manhattan, Kansas to work with K-State landscape architecture students to create a dry stone sculpture on the grounds of the Beach Museum of Art. The finished work will be open to the public Oct. 4 during the "Stone Rising" open house.
As part of my Residency, I will also deliver “LIMITS = POTENTIAL: Dry Stone as a Medium of Expression” at 4:30 pm, Thursday Oct. 1 as part of the Lee A. Bryant Memorial Lecture of the K-State College of Architecture, Planning and Design.
Last year the students and I restored walls on the Hokanson Homestead in the Konza Prairie. I’m really looking forward to my return to K-State.
Last evening, while strolling around Millenium Park in Chicago, I ran into Elise Hubbard, one of the K-State students I had the pleasure to work with in '08. Sure is a small world.
On Friday, Peter Mauss and I participated in a ASLA panel discussion. Seventy landscape professionals attended the talk that focused on photography and getting a project published. We also signed books and had a fun time talking with patrons at the EXPO bookstore.
