A Magic Carpet Among the River Ruins

Three days after I finished up the stone work on the "Ruin" project and left the site roughly graded, the property owners rented a U-Haul truck, loaded it with freshly cut sod, and headed home to have a Memorial Day sod laying party. The result is striking. The ground within the walls of the old mill foundation have been transformed from a brush tangled stone jumble into a soft green tumbling mat. Many thanks to Duncan and Diana for inviting me to work and create in the special place that is their home outdoors.

Lovely Dan, really dig the steps and the big corner. The sod sure makes it an instant destination.

  2. Hi Chuck,
Foraging in the forest detritus for the components of an installation is my kind of treasure hunting. The pieces present themselves for consideration and suggest ways they could be employed. The preliminary
design gives way to conditions as they develop on the ground. What could be more fun?
