Finland in May

Wallers, don't throw out that old fuel container, turn it into a "hearting" bucket! I saw this clever reapplication at a one-man quarry operation in Finland a few years ago. This coming May I'll be returning to that beautiful land at the invitation of artist friend, Markku Hakuri, and Kerava Art Museum to build a stone, environmental art piece on the grounds of the museum. It will be good to be back in the country that exceeds all others in per capita spending on the arts. Not to mention the fact that there's a sauna for every 2.5 persons. Finns know how to live!

    I agree with you completely about the last - myself being a Finn in exile in Seattle. I just wonder what a hearting bucket is...

    Thanks for the comment. "Hearting" is the packing in the center of a dry stone wall construction. Even though it's made up of small pieces, it's the heart of the wall because it strengthens the core by filling voids.
