The viiru that have given me the idea for the sculpture I’m proposing to build at the Kerava Art Museum often appear in the shape of X’s. For a number of years now, I’ve been photographing X’s whenever and wherever I come across them in nature. Today being a special day for X’s I thought I’d post a collection of images, along with some examples of the glass viiru I’ve been making as prototypes for the Kerava installation.
Very nice, the sculpture sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteThis will be the first indoor installation I've done in about 15 years.Interesting it will be, especially for me!

We saw one of these in Kauai on the Napali Coast. Of course there is a story about "the queen who put it there," but I don't happen to remember the details.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Ian. I'd be curious what kind of geologic intrusion might be found in Kauai's volcanic rock. It's a beautiful island. I enjoyed its sand and surf in the 80's but didn't pay much attention to its stone.
